Wisconsin Supreme Court Refuses to Take Voter ID on Bypass
Yesterday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court issued an order denying Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s request to bypass the court of appeals in the two Voter ID cases. The court denied bypass in NAACP v. Walker as “premature” because opening briefs in the court of appeals had not been filed. Although briefs have been filed in LWV v. Walker, the court noted that the incomplete briefs in NAACP would prevent the court from hearing oral argument on both cases at the same time.
The court did grant WILL’s motion to file an amicus brief, accepting it for filing.
